BACHPAN AFTER PACHPAN- CHILDHOOD AFTER 55

Elders are very important people in our societies, but somehow the people especially the younger generations keep neglecting them. The young people of today forget that age is just a number and soon they will be in the chairs of the elderly. It is important that you don't just leave your elders at one corner of the house to play with their grandchildren. After all they are just like you and they also need a social life.

The younger generation has to value their relations with the elders and create enough time to always interact with the them. The elders deserve all due respect and honor from everyone in the house and the society. We keep on forgetting the fact that elders are the wisest and the most experienced of us all. It is only their age that they need you the most – be it to speak up for their rights, to support them socially and financially or to just give them a bit of your time and love. 

To take this issue head-on a group of 3rd-year Mass-Media Students of Wilson College in association with Silver Inning Foundation, Hermony and other NGO's started a social initiative called "Bachpan after Pachpan", which in English means "Childhood after Fity Five". This unique campaign aims at sensitizing the community, especially the youth about the issues faced by the Elderly today. The campaign focuses on Inter-generational Bonding because they believe that most of the problems faced by the Elderly can be changed a great deal if the youth stand up for them.

  

‘Bachpan after Pachpan’ seeks to make the lives of Senior citizens pleasant at the twilight of their lives. It encourages and inspires the society to take initiative to take care of the elderly. ‘Bachpan after Pachpan’ believes that you can do anything for the elders, even the smallest of the things can make a difference for example, just listening to what they have to say, just helping them cross the road, buy a train or a bus ticket, or simply just make them laugh their heart out loudly.

As part of the campaign, one of the events that  ‘Bachpan after Pachpan’ organized is Flash Mob – which took place on 4^th of Jan 2012, at High Street Phoenix, Mumbai, India at around 5.00pm in the evening. The event saw 47 Senior Citizens of an NGO Harmony initiate and perform a Flash Mob. Needless to say, it was a huge success. Watch-out this amazing video of that wonderful flash-mob :

I BLOG FOR A CAUSE

Hello dear friends, I’m delighted to inform you that I’ve started a new social project. The project is called “I BLOG FOR A CAUSE”. I’ve done some initial work and I’m able to bring up the website, the facebook page and the twitter account for this very special social endeavor.

This is a unique project of its kind where I’m trying to bring together people who are either working for some social cause or trying to find one in which they can get involved. Most importantly, it will help all you bloggers to exercise the power of your words for something really very useful that can make a huge difference to this society. It will help everyone to achieve the primary goal of spreading the word and give you the satisfaction of being socially responsible.

 

    

 

What is “I Blog For A Cause”?

“IBlog For A Cause” is a social project that provides bloggers to showcase their Social Responsibility. Everyone supports one or more social cause, everyone tries to make a difference, but that is not enough. We need a platform and a solid network of like minded people. “I Blog For A Cause” is a community where you can share a cause that you support and where the fellow members will help each other to spread the word. Just imagine how easy it becomes to spread the message when there are people who are as serious about a social cause as you are.

 

How it works?

This is very simple, all you need to do is just write a blog post about the cause you support. You can give web links, pictures, picture links etc anything that you feel will help you in your cause. All the blog posts will have the sharing gadgets using which the readers can simply share it across the social media and over the internet. Moreover, we “I BLOG FOR A CAUSE” already has a FacebookPage and a twitter account where the links to all the posts will be published regularly.

What post you can write?

You can write anything and everything about the cause that you are supporting. You can write about any NGO, Institution or Non Profit Organization that you are involved with. You can write about any social campaign that you are part of or you want to initiate. The fundamental idea is- “think social, be socially responsible and spread the word”.

How can you support it?

AWAAZ DO

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, when I looked back on my life and asked a simple question to thy self- what is the most precious thing that I’ve? Without any hesitation, my inner voice echoed with the most important word of my life- “Education”. Yes, no doubt whatsoever “Education” is the most important and reliable thing of my life. Today in the world of materialistic emotions I feel, I just can’t even rely on money because it will also come to an end one day, but I know I’m well educated to make money and it’s my education, which has made me self dependent. Deep inside I know if I walk with such a confidence in this human jungle today, it’s because I’m well educated to handle every situation and I’m equally equipped to survive here. I’m sure that I just can’t be simply lost in this crowded world because I’m well educated to tackle everything with ease.

I saw a young poor child yesterday, and he looked to be around 5-6 years old. I saw his father, a beggar, besides him and suddenly, a question alarmed in my mind because he is born in a poor family his father cannot afford his education and as a result his whole future has jeopardized. This young child, who could have lived a brighter future, is suffering because he is not educated and the end result is- like his father, he is also begging on the roads of India. One deprived generation has given birth to another, and that’s not the end, there will be many to follow. I simply don’t want to just give them some money and leave them to live such an abysmal life. I just thought to myself, what if I could help this child get educated? Of course, there is no certainty that he will be a millionaire, but what I know is at least he won’t be begging on the streets for sure.

UNICEF has started a movement AWAAZ DO that provides a platform to ensure that no child in this country is denied the basic right to education. I have joined this movement and I urge you to pledge your support to this cause. It’s now your opportunity to make a difference.

WHAT GOVERNMENT HAS DONE FOR THIS CAUSE?

For all the children between the age of 6 and 14 years have the right to free and quality education under the passed Right To Education (RTE) Act.

1. The RTE Act specifies minimum norms in government schools. It requires all private schools to reserve 25% of seats for children from poor families (to be reimbursed by the state as part of the public-private partnership).

2. The RTE Act also provides that no child shall be held back, expelled, or required to pass a board examination until the completion of elementary education. There is also a provision for special training of school drop-outs to bring them up to par with students of the same age.

3. The RTE Act is the first legislation in the world that puts the responsibility of ensuring enrolment, attendance and completion on the Government.
4. The Right to Education of persons with disabilities until 18 years of age has also been made a fundamental right. A number of other provisions regarding improvement of school infrastructure, teacher-student ratio and faculty are made in the Act.

“AB SAB MILKE AWAAZ DO”

OFFERING TECHNICAL SERVICES TO HELP THE UNDER PRIVILEGE CHILDREN

For long I’m trying to do my best to help the under privilege children here in India, but there are so many things that can be done and yet we shy away from them. So, I’ve decided to come out of the shell and to help the poor children in whatever possible way I can. I did a bit of thinking and finally I’ve come up with an idea. 

MY IDEA:

Since, I’m a Software Engineer I’ve decided to use my skills in that area to help the poor. I will be offering following services to the customers on a nominal price-

•       Testing the web-applications. 
•       Writing testing articles.
•     Writing other technical articles like product reviews, research articles etc.
•       Testing mobile applications.
•     Doing website reviews.
•     Website/application usability review and feedbacks.
•      Feedback/reviews about the blog templates.
•     Advertising and promoting firms/products on my blog.
•    Providing technical resources like e-books, webcasts, links etc related to Software Testing, SQL, RDBMS, C++, Unix.

All the money made by providing above services to various customers will be used to help the poor and the under privileged children in India. Once I get the money, I’ll be posting pictures and videos on my blogs showcasing the money has been spent in the correct way for the needy.
